Why does “Install now” keep losing its effectiveness? And what should you use instead? 🤔
The phrase “Install now” is becoming increasingly outdated. Users are tired of blunt calls to action that don’t give them a compelling reason to act.

The phrase “Install now” is becoming increasingly outdated. Users are tired of blunt calls to action that don’t give them a compelling reason to act.
Why it doesn’t work:
1️⃣ Defensive reaction to pushiness. People immediately think, “They’re trying to shove something down my throat again!”
2️⃣ No clear benefit. The user doesn’t understand why they need the app.
3️⃣ Banner blindness. Amid countless identical ads, this kind of offer just gets lost.
What to use instead:
- FOMO (Fear of Missing Out):
- “Be among the first 100 users and get a bonus!”
- “This special offer is only available for 3 days!”
- Emotion:
- “Imagine how easily you can solve this problem today with our app!”
- “Your path to the perfect vacation is just one click away.”
- Trust:
- “95% of our users recommend us to their friends.”
- “Over 1 million downloads worldwide!”
- Stories:
- “Maria was looking for the perfect fitness tracker—and found it in this app!”
- “Download it just like 10,000 other happy users have done.”
Example:
- Before: “Install our shopping app!”
- After:
- Emotion: “All the discounts in one place—start saving right now!”
- FOMO: “Only today: 50% off for new users!”
- Trust: “The app that 1 million people have already chosen.”
Result: add emotion, value, and trust, rather than just a dry call to action. 😊
